ASTROLOGY BY JAN WARREN ALLEN

As we are getting closer to the election, I would like to point out a few aspects the candidates have that might point to the outcome of it. I use the suggested U.S. chart of deceased astrologer, David Solte, which is the chart for the signing of the Articles of Confederation..November 15, 1777...12:46 PM….York Pennsylvania.

 Let's start with Hillary Clinton's chart.
She was born on October 26, 1947 in Park Ridge, Illinois. There are a few different times floating around for her time of birth, but I have rectified the 8 PM chart to 7:52 PM, and use that one. The most obvious block she has is with her natal Neptune at 11 Libra 22, and progressed Neptune at 12 Libra 53 which square the U.S. south node at 11 Capricorn 11, and Mars only a degree past, at 12 Capricorn 23 in the U.S. 11th house. No wonder she thinks that she has been treated unfairly during this whole long process, and has been discriminated against by men (Mars).

Two other American icons had planets that conjoined the U.S south node and Mars, which helped them to reach their goals in life. One was Frank Sinatra, who's Venus (artistic endeavors) was at 11 Capricorn 56. The other one is football legend, Brett Favre, who's Mars (athletic ability), is at 12 Capricorn 31. To complicate things for Clinton, which further thwarts her progress, is the progressed U.S. Sun, which is at 12 Cancer 15 now, opposing the  aforementioned U.S. planets and forms a T-square to Clinton's Neptune. It seems like she is swimming upstream in a race she can't seem to win.

Besides that, her natal nodes at 24 Taurus 19 and Scorpio respectively tie into the U.S. T-square from its Sun at 23 Scorpio 46 to the first and 7th house cusps at 22 Aquarius 42 and Leo respectively, with natal Jupiter at 25 Leo 45 conjunct the 7th house cusp. Furthermore, her progressed Venus at 02 Aquarius 51 squares her natal Sun at 02 Scorpio 48, from the 8th to the 5th house. And on November 4th at 8 PM in Washington D.C., the Sun will have just gone into Aquarius and will be at 00 Aquarius 29 then. If all that wasn't enough, she has natal Saturn at 21 Leo 21 which squares her retrograde Mercury at 21 Scorpio19, and on November 4th, transiting Neptune is at 21 Aquarius 28 and squares transiting Mars at 21 Scorpio36. This reinforced T-square is certainly not good for her chances, I would think.

John McCain's aspects do not tie into the U.S. chart well either. He was born on August 29, 1936 at 9 AM in Cocosolo, Panama. His natal Pluto is at 28 degrees of Cancer and opposes his Moon at 27 Capricorn 03. This opposition is reinforced by the U.S. Pluto at 28 Capricorn 01 in the U.S. 12th house. And at 9 AM in Washington on November 4th, transiting Mercury is at 29 Libra 52, which forms a T-square to these placements. And by 3:03 PM the transiting Moon comes up to 28 Capricorn 01 to conjoin the U.S. Pluto, further negatively affecting McCain's chart, which doesn't bode well for him winning the election. Besides that, his retrograde natal Uranus at 9 Taurus 30 opposes the U.S. Mercury at 9 Scorpio 43 in the U.S. 8th house. I don't think that he can get any electricity or excitement going in his quest to lead the country; especially with the young people (Mercury).

On the other hand, Barack Obama's campaign has seemed to be sprinkled with fairy dust for most of it, since the beginning. Why?  Well, perhaps one reason is that Pluto in Capricorn promises to throw out the old, and bring in the new, and he certainly fits that description. And when I was studying astrology, many years ago, I learned that Pluto rules the black race, so even though he is only half black, he seems to fit the picture on that level also.

Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu Hawaii. I use the 1:05:58 PM birth time for him, even though there are several other times given  for him also. His natal Neptune at 8 Scorpio 36 conjoins the natal U.S. Saturn at that degree, and his progressed Neptune at 9 Scorpio 32 conjoins natal U.S. Mercury at 9 Scorpio 43 in the U.S. 8th house. This has allowed him to strike a chord with the younger generation, and in relating to him, have embraced him as their leader. Obama inspires people with his charisma, and his message of hope and change. His progressed Mars and Mercury at 22 Libra 52 and 22 Libra 56 respectively in his 12 house conjoins the U.S. Venus at 23 Libra 13 in the U.S. 8th house. This goes on to trine the U.S. ascendant at 22 Aquarius 42. Another winning combination!

I think the most favorable aspect he has going for him on November 4th however, is his progressed Sun coming up to 27 Virgo 59 and trining his progressed retrograde Jupiter at 27 Capricorn 20. This trine is reinforced by the U.S. Pluto at 28 Capricorn 01. And we have already seen how the transiting Moon (the public) on November 4th at 3:01 PM comes up to conjoin U.S. Pluto at that degree, exactly. More help for him! Transiting Jupiter at 17 Capricorn 28 then sits on his 3rd house cusp at that degree, and trines transiting Saturn at 19 Virgo in his 10th house of career. Mercury moves into Scorpio that night and trines Barack's natal Venus at 01 Cancer 30. Obama's natal Uranus at 25 Leo 15 and elevated in his 10th house, trines the midpoint of Pluto at 29 Sagittarius 19 and Venus at 20 Sagittarius 52 at 8 PM in Washington D.C. More help for him!

There are some worrisome aspects for him though also. Right now, the progressed U.S. Moon is at 12 Scorpio 08 and squares his Sun at 12 Leo18 which is in his 9th house of religion. So just when it seemed that the Rev.Wright controversy has died down, another nut case, Father Michael Pfleger comes out of the woodwork and stirs things up all over again for Obama. And on Election Day his progressed Moon at 12 Aquarius 24 opposes his Sun at 12 Leo18 from the 4th to the 9th, with the transiting Sun then at 12 Scorpio forms a T-square. People say that being the president, especially in today's world, is the worst job anyone could have, so maybe these aspects reflect that observation. There is still a lot of hate and prejudice in this country, and the fear of someone trying to harm Obama if he wins lurks in the background; especially with those heavy aspects that are evident now, as well as on Election Day! We all are aware of what happened to President Kennedy, who also had two small children!

But getting back to his time of birth; the last reason I like the chart for 1:05:58 PM for Obama is that it strongly ties into his birthday this year. He will be 46 years old this coming August 4th, and in the system I call the Age Arc method of prediction, I turn the degrees into ages. When you get to 30 (because there are 30 degrees in a sign), you add the original degree number to 30. This gets you to the middle years of a life. I like to see what number is going to be prevalent for the year in someone's life, and see if that is reflected in the chart. So for Obama, we reduce the number 46 down to its lowest denominator by subtracting 30 from it, which gets us to the number of 17.

Obama has this number in four places in his chart. The ascendant, descendant, and the 3rd and 9th house cusps, plus transiting Jupiter which at 17 degrees is at that same number also. So that number being so prevalent in his chart tells us that he could surely be propelled into prominence in a most powerful way, and be elected to the most authoritative and commanding position in the world.

However, I think one thing that could change the direction the election seems to be going in is if we would have another terrorist attack. Then people might feel more secure in electing John McCain because of his military experience, as well as his strong military stance.

But at this point, it sure looks like we will be hearing "Hail to the Chief" being played for Barack Obama!
