ASTROLOGY BY JAN WARREN ALLEN

With only two days to go until the election, I am  prompted to compare the natal and progressed charts of John McCain and Barack Obama to the U.S. chart I follow; for The Articles of Confederation, (November 15, 1777-12:46 P.M.-York, Pennsylvania. I have constructed triple charts for all of the three posted charts..with the natal relocated charts in the inside wheels..the progressed charts in the middle wheels ..and the transits for Election Day for just after 8 PM in Washington DC. in the outer wheels; and I would like to share my take on what is going on in them. 

 I am using the latest posted birth time for John McCain - 6:25 PM - August 29, 1936 - Colon, Panama.  

McCain certainly has had a set of challenging aspects to deal with. His progressed retrograde Saturn at 15 Pisces 51 in his 1st house closely squares his natal Jupiter at 15 Sagittarius 06 in his 10th. This goes on to form a T-square to the midpoint of natal and progressed U.S Mercury at 14 and 17 degrees of Gemini in the U.S. 4th house, which shows that at times he has seemed to be unpredictable, and off the mark, and pundits report that his campaign has not been run as well as it could have been.

On the other hand, Obama's progressed Moon at 16 Aquarius 16 near his natal ascendant trines the U.S. natal and progressed Uranus in the U.S. 4th house, which indicates that he has run a fabulously successful campaign in his innovative approach and use of the internet.

Furthermore, his natal Moon at 03 Gemini 21 in his 4th house conjoins the natal U.S. Moon at 02 Gemini 45 in the U.S. 4th house and trines his natal retrograde Jupiter at 00 Aquarius 52 which, in turn, conjoins U.S. retrograde Pluto at 01 Aquarius 03 in the U.S. 12th. The icing on the cake is the transiting Moon coming up to 00 Aquarius about the time the polls will be closing at 8 PM in Washington DC to emphasize this great aspect!

McCain's Moon at 02 Aquarius 25 in his 11th house conjoins progressed retrograde U.S. Pluto at 01 Aquarius 03 which goes on to trine his natal Mercury at 02 Libra 44 as well as his progressed Moon at 03 Libra 45, and the U.S. natal Moon at 02 Gemini45 which is very beneficial, but his progressed ascendant at 03 Taurus 06 squares his natal Moon and the U.S. progressed Pluto and throws a monkey wrench into this grand trine, and his campaign; indicating that he has not raised the funds that Obama has.

It is interesting that McCain's progressed Sun is at 17 Scorpio 35 in his 9th house, which conjoins the progressed U.S. Moon (women) at that degree, and ties into him picking Sarah Palin as his running mate. This ties in to her chart, as it squares her Sun at 22 Aquarius 20 which is just past her 7th house cusp (other people) at 19 Aquarius 21. So I am wondering if she is just a temporary and electrifying flash in the pan.   

The exact retrograde Uranus - Saturn  opposition at 18 degrees and 57 minutes of Pisces and Virgo falls in McCain's 1st and 7th house; reinforced on the 7th house side by his progressed Neptune at 18 Virgo 30 there, and by his progressed Part of Fortune at 19 Pisces 16 in his 1st house. This goes on to T-square the midpoint of the progressed U.S. Uranus at 17 Gemini 05 and progressed U.S. Mercury at 23 Gemini 02 in the U.S. 4th house. And transiting Venus comes up to 20 Sagittarius in his 10th house on Tuesday turning all of this into a Mutable Grand Cross.

As many people go out to vote, they will be feeling like they are losing the ideal of the "American Dream" - literally, in terms of their homes, jobs, pensions, investments etc., and decide its time to change Political Parties. However, McCain's progressed Neptune at 16 and 18 degrees of Virgo in his 7th house trines transiting Jupiter at 17 Capricorn 26 in his political 11th house (his hopes and wishes), which could be of some help to him.

Obama also has a Grand Square with the Uranus, Saturn opposition which falls in his 1st and 7th houses too. His natal Mars at 22 Virgo 35 is included in it, which goes on to square U.S. progressed Mercury at 23 Gemini 02. However, on Tuesday transiting Venus trines his 7th house cusp of others at 19 Leo 35, (young people). Favorable!

Transiting Mercury then comes up to 12 Scorpio and conjoins McCain's progressed Mercury at that degree on his 9th house cusp and squares his natal Mars at 12 Leo 34 in the 6th. Plus the transiting nodes at 13 degrees and 59 minutes of Leo and Aquarius tie into his 3rd and 9th house cusps at 12 degrees and 40 minutes of Taurus and Scorpio; forming another Grand Square (fixed). Not good!

For Obama, transiting Mercury then in his 9th squares his natal Sun at 12 Leo in his 6th, with the transiting nodes also influencing it; however it doesn't form the Grand Square that it does in McCain's chart. Furthermore, Obama's progressed ascendant is at 12 Cancer 10 which conjoins the progressed U.S. progressed Sun at that degree in the U.S 5th house which trines transiting Mercury at 12 Scorpio then. No wonder he connects so strongly to young people and middle class families!

McCain's natal retrograde Uranus at 09 Taurus 30 in his 3rd house opposes U.S. Mercury at 09 Scorpio 43 in the 9th, which conjoins Obama's natal Neptune at that degree; reflecting their differences in their values concerning finances, abortion, taxes, foreign affairs, etc.

McCain's progressed Mars at 27 Virgo19 in his 7th house conjoins U.S. Neptune at 28 Virgo 43 and trines the transiting Moon next Tuesday as it comes up to 27 Capricorn around noon then, which is favorable; although at the same time, his Mars squares the midpoint of his progressed north node at 26 Sagittarius 17 and transiting Pluto at 29 Sagittarius 19 in his 10th house!

Obama's progressed Sun is at 28 Virgo14 conjoining his 8th house cusp at 27 Virgo, also conjoining U.S. Neptune, and square transiting Pluto, but in his chart, they go on to trine his progressed retrograde Jupiter at 27 Capricorn 20 in his 12th house. This powerful trine is strengthened by U.S. Pluto at 28 Capricorn 01, and the transiting Moon Tuesday afternoon.

I think these are the most powerful aspects that can't be beat, especially at the same time McCain's natal Pluto at 28 Cancer 01 opposes U.S. Pluto at 28 Capricorn 01 gets triggered and emphasized by the transiting Moon; highlighting the question of his advanced age, and perhaps being the time to pass the torch on to the next generation! This explains why he has counted on his patriotism, his long record in Congress, as well as his past war record to carry him through to victory.

One other note, as transiting Pluto slowly moved up in the late degrees of Sagittarius to trine Obama's progressed Uranus at 28 Leo 09 in his 7th house, he has been described by his detractors of being nothing but a "rock star".

At any rate, our country has not lived up to our original ideals of liberty, justice and freedom for all; as seen in our past treatment of American Indians, African Americans, as well as other groups . This is revealed by the T-square of U.S Sun at 23 Scorpio 46 in the 9th to the U.S. ascendant and descendant at 22 degrees and 42 minutes of Aquarius and Leo respectively; as well as Jupiter at 25 Leo 45 near the 7th house cusp.

Abraham Lincoln's natal Sun at 23 Aquarius 29 in his 12th house, as well as John Kennedy's retrograde Uranus at 23 Aquarius 43 squaring his Jupiter at 23 Taurus 03 both tied into this ominous U.S. T-square. Obama's ties into it also, as his natal Uranus at 25 Leo 16 conjoins the U.S. Jupiter at that degree.  

However, a saving grace, if he wins, is that his progressed Mars and Mercury at 23 Libra in his 8th house conjoins the U.S. natal Venus and progressed U.S. ascendant at that degree, which go on to trine the Sun and Uranus at 23 Aquarius in the aforementioned charts. This should keep him safe as they move in lock step with one another for some years to come.

Although Lincoln's Uranus at 9 Scorpio 40 conjoins Obama's progressed Neptune at that degree, and both conjoin U.S. Mercury. This does bring to mind threats and assassination attempts, as we have already seen last week.

Some people believe that Obama is the reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln. I believe that Kennedy is the reincarnation of Lincoln, and perhaps Obama presents the next opportunity for us to raise our consciousness and elect a black man as president; allowing us to come closer to fulfilling the promise of this U.S. chart, and our true destiny!
